Spring Day Attire

I know for you east coasters that the weather is freezing and just absolutely insane so next week I’ll do an inspiring look for my gals who have to deal with the cold. For my west coasters though we’ve been dealing with spring weather so I threw together a very simple spring look.

I came across this Jean jacket and loved it so I started thinking what the heck can I pair with is without making it too much and I finally came up with a very simple idea. No jewelry, nothing. Jean jacket with a white undershirt and torn boyfriend jeans. For the shoes cute black and floral heels that add a pop to the jeans without drawing all of the attention. I think this look can be very versatile and work for anyone! What do you think?

You can find the jacket at lulu’s for 70.00$

The jeans can be found at Nordstrom’s for 58.00$

The shoes can also be found at Nordstrom’s for 89.00$

I do most of my shopping on keep the app. I will continue to put together outfit ideas every week and I will provide where they are found and how much they are. Hope you guys like these posts!

L’ORÉAL Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation

Hey guys! I’ve been meaning to get this foundation since it came out but at first I couldn’t find it then when I could find it I couldn’t find it in my shade so I eventually gave up and figured as it became less popular I’d eventually get my hands on it. Well when me and Doug went to Walgreens looking for something completely different I spotted this foundation and they had one more left in my shade so logically I couldn’t pass it up 😉

20150219-105956-39596540.jpg

It claims to be a 24hr wearing foundation that is Demi-matte, air light, and oil free. I’ve worn this once and I felt it was all the things listed above. Others have said it’s an intense matte not a Demi-matte but I feel it is a Demi-matte. The foundation blends smoothly and feels light and comfortable on the skin. When I wore this foundation I wore it later in the evening so by the time I was ready to take it off it had only been on for about 6 hours. I did start to look a little dewy but no breaking down or patchyness. I feel that this foundation is very nice for long days out but not wanting a heavy thick foundation.

Another thing I have noticed people complaining about with this foundation is that it sticks to dry spots on the skin so no one with dry skin can use it. I have combination skin where the T-zone is very oily but my nose and the edges of my face are very dry. I moisturize my face very well before I use any foundation and I’ve noticed that as long as I moisturize the skin it doesn’t cling to any dry patches that I have.

This foundation is definitely medium to full coverage and conceals all my redness and blemishes very well although when you first get product it is thiner than you would expect for medium to full coverage which is what makes it thin and air like on the skin. I did not feel I needed concealer after I applied this foundation. Personally I think it would begin to look too heavy if you layered concealer on top but obviously that is my personal preference.

The shade I found matched best is 102 shell beige. I will provide a before and after picture of this foundation below.

Overall I found this foundation is nice to wear, easy to apply, looks and feels nice on the skin, and I feel that a good array of skin types could get away with wearing his without it being uncomfortable and too matte. L’Oreal is one of my favorite brands at the drugstore and they rarely disappoint so I suggest if you see this at your local drugstore to give it a shot because I’m sure it won’t disappoint you.

Go to Fall Makeup Looks!

Hello my beautifuls! I decided to show you guys my fall looks, which is basically my everyday look with a warmer tone. I am not going to show or tell you what products I personally use because I don’t want you to feel limited to those products! Take this look and make it your own. I will only show you my strategy and you can do with it however you feel best! 🙂

Fall is my favorite time of year so fall looks will be very usual on my blog so be prepared! But this look is special! I collaborated with a good girlfriend of mine! You can find her at Lunalovehim.blogspot.com and she also has a youtube channel! Go check her out because she has more in depth fall looks that I know you will love!

First I will show you the look I came up with and then I will show you her beautiful go to look.

For my go to fall look this is a more subtle and warm look. I go simple on everything but the eyes. I use a dark shade in my crease that draws attention to the entire face and the rest of the eye is light and gentle. The reason I only do a dark crease is that when doing a darker lip or a full smokey type eye you lose that blendable look where everything pulls together evenly without one aspect of your makeup being more dominant than the other. A dark crease draws the attention to the eye and then the rest of the look take action and you will seemingly have a beautifully pulled together look that can be a little dramatic.

For the lips I perfer a brown tone nude because it seemlessly fits into every fall look. The look I did you can easily make a darker lip but if you want the seemless and pulled together look you might want to darken the eyes a little. Over all I went with warm undertones which reminds me of fall!

My good friend took a bolder look which is also perfect for the fall! She went with a dark lip and a light eye which couldn’t look better!

She pulled off the perfect vampy lip color with a simple eye look!

Make sure you check my girl out!

xoxo

L’Oreal True Match Foundation Review

Hey guys! I have yet another review for you. It is one that many beauty bloggers have raved and talked about but there were a few things I noticed while using this foundation that was never mentioned in reviews that I had seen so I wanted to share my thoughts with you!

The L’Oreal True Match Foundation is one of the most raved about foundations in the beauty world and I had never tried it so I figured it was time for me to hop on the band wagon. It is a liquid foundation that has SPF in it. It doesn’t claim to be long wearing, matte, or anything significant other than easily blendable.

This foundation is very thin and a little goes a long ways. It applies very smoothly and evenly on the face. Though after first application of the foundation I noticed that the formula was more matte and it seemed very powdery. When finished setting I noticed the dry sections I had on my face were more accentuated. I almost took this foundation off because it just seemed so powdery and drying but for the sake of the review I was a trooper and wore it through the day.

Wearing throughout the day it seemed to get better the longer it was on my face. The more my face produced natural oils the better this foundation looked. I never had to touch up with powder and it was very long wearing. I applied this foundation at 11:00am and went to the fair at 4:00pm and didn’t get home until 12:00am and when going to remove my makeup I found that the foundation was still applied fully and looked flawless on the skin. I was not oily even though I spent all day in the heat running around which is a big plus in my book and probably one in all of those who have oily skin! This foundation is definitely long wearing!

Overall the foundation is amazing and the negative things I found about it can easily be worked around with different application choices and ensuring that the skin is moisturized before application and the longer this is on the better it looks because it works well with the natural oils your face produces so I suggest that you apply this 30 minutes before you plan on going out and it should leave you looking stunning and flawless!

8/10

Here is a before and after. This foundation is medium coverage as you will be able to see on my face!

Here is a photo about an hour after the foundation is applied!

Hope this review helped!

Revlon Colorburst Matte Balms and Lacquer Balm Review

Hey Guys!

I hope you were able to keep up with all of the sudden blog changes Hotdougandbun.com under went!

I wanted to do a review for you guys since fall is upon us and all anyone is talking about is lips lips lips! I am not the biggest fan of lip products I usually slap on a tinted balm so when I heard about these Revlon Colorburst Balms I had to try them out! I only picked up one in the Lacquered Balm and four of the Matte Balms and they are amaaaaazingly pigmented! I can not express that more to you! The pigmentation is insane in these balms, so insane you wouldn’t even think that they were a balm.

The Lacquered Balm goes on smooth and has an extreme shine factor. I particularly am not a fan of such shine but if you are a shiny glossy girl there is nothing I can say bad about the Lacquered balms! Definetly a winner in my book and I need to get more of the Lacquered Balms. They have a large color range and they aren’t high priced! They last on the lips about 2 hours and fade evenly on the lips so you don’t look like some crazy lady with patchy lip color!

8/10

Now for the Revlon Matte Balms the colors are phenomenal! These are once again very pigmented! But the formula is a little off in my opinion. Being a matte they do sink into the lip lines and highlight every little flaw in the lips so exfoliating the lips are a must before using this product. The Matte Balms go on very creamy and smooth but a matte to me means it drys and has intense staying power. These never seem to be very matte they are creamy and smooth and the only difference between these and the lacquered balms is the shine. To me not having a shine does not make them matte.

6.5/10

The staying power on both the lacquered and matte balms is about 2 hours then you should wipe the product off before reapplying or they tend to get a little gross. The reason I go for mattes is for the staying power and the Revlon Matte Balms do not have more lasting power than the lacquer balms and in my opinion if I am not getting the benefits of the matte I would rather have the lacquer.

Overall the Revlon Lacquer and Matte Balms are impressive. The pigmentation is on point and literally these are worth it just for that. These are both creamy and smooth and feel nice on the lips they are not drying at all. The only problem I had was the staying power of the mattes.

I picked up one Lacquered and four Mattes. Here are lip swatches to show how great they look!

Olay Regenerist Advanced Anti Aging Thermal Mini Peel daily treatment

Hey guys! I’m back and it’s fall! I know a lot of people are bummed summer is over but I know that a lot of people are ecstatic that fall has begun! With the new seasons come new products and I want to share an exciting, life changing one with you!

Before I told you the only thing I used to clean my face was the Aveeno Clear Complexion Cream Cleanser and thought I’d never find anything to replace it, that hasn’t changed but what has changed is what I use WITH it!

20140929-191320-69200644.jpg

Seasons are changing and so is my skin! I kept breaking out and my Aveeno was working hard but still not quite cutting it so I had to suffer through the break outs and just pray it would go away in a few weeks. Doug went to the store and picked up a new scrub that I used after I used my Aveeno and it has changed my skin! After using the combo for three days my blemishes had decreased by half!!!

What is this miracle worker you may ask? The Olay Thermal Mini Peel!

20140929-191403-69243471.jpg

I use the Aveeno cleanser first to allow the micro beads to exfoliate and bring all the dirty junk in my pores to the surface and loosen the dead skin. After I massage the Aveeno cleanser into my skin I rinse it then apply the Olay thermal mini peel and massage it into my skin for about 2 minutes! You can see the dirt and dead skin melt off your face although it is gentle enough not to irritate the skin and both cleansers are mild enough to use everyday.

The Aveeno cleanser is amazing it is still my number one and is more of a drug store price at around 12$ when the Olay mini peel is a little more higher end at 28$. If you can’t afford the Olay the Aveeno will help but if you can combine the two you will see results and you will see them quickly.

The Olay mini peel has a very mild sweet scent and it is a light lavender color with very fine beads. The moment the mini peel hits the wet skin on your face it heats up. It has a nice consistency and spreads over the face very nicely. It is refreshing and if you are asleep the warmth will wake you.

Over all the Olay mini peel is worth more than it cost and you won’t regret purchasing. Though I won’t replace it for my Aveeno it is an amazing combination that is unstoppable for trouble skin. And to all my sensitive skin girls this will work for you easily!

This a 10/10 product without hesitation! I love it on my skin and nothing has gotten rid of my acne as well and as quickly as this dynamic duo has!
